The Opportunity
We are looking for an experiencing and engaging Finance Business Partner to provide clear, accurate and detailed information on overhead costs and use this information to work with budget holders to identify and deliver cost efficiencies.
This is an exciting role that puts you at the heart of our financial operations!
As a key member of our team, you will:
* Innovate and Implement Procedures: Develop, implement, and maintain robust procedures to ensure accurate and comprehensive month-end direct and overhead cost accruals. Capture all invoices before month-end ledger shutdown and collaborate with budget holders for precise cost capture.
* Lead Cost Reporting: Prepare detailed monthly direct costs and overheads reports (both payroll and non-payroll) by cost centre and budget holder. Your reports will provide critical insights and drive financial clarity.
* Drive Cost Efficiency: Hold monthly meetings with budget holders to review costs against budgets, forecasts, and recent actual run rates. Investigate unusual variances, resolve discrepancies, and formulate action plans to enhance cost efficiencies.
* Communicate Key Insights: Prepare summary narratives on monthly costs for our business leadership team. Explain key trends, highlight important findings, and identify actions to drive efficiencies.
* Optimise Material Costs: Prepare monthly material cost reports and investigate standard cost variances. Propose and implement action plans to rectify adverse variances, ensuring optimal material cost management.
* Strategise for Success: Prepare annual direct costs and overheads budgets, three-year plans, and quarterly forecasts. Collaborate with budget holders to balance ambition and achievability, securing full buy-in.
* Support and Innovate: Assist the business finance team with ad hoc projects and investigations related to commercial performance, direct costs, stock, and overheads. Your contributions will be crucial to our ongoing success.
What will make you successful?
You will be a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for financial management, additionally,
* Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA) with preference for prior experience of a manufacturing business.
* Strong influencing and teamwork skills: able to work with colleagues to influence cost management decisions that will improve contribution and efficiency.
* Strong attention to detail and diligent in ensuring accounting ledgers and cost reports are accurate and complete, with costs recognised in the correct period.
* Excellent planning and organisation skills to meet annual, monthly, project deadlines.
* Excellent analytical skills: able to analyse cost information and trends to identify anomalies to follow-up.
* Resourceful in identifying cost savings and working with colleagues to deliver them.
* Energetic, positive, well organised and operates with high integrity.
