We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse on our busy infectious diseases unit.
We have an 18 bed unit, with 2 Trexlar beds and a busy outpatient department.

Main duties of the job
* Help manage an 18 bed infectious diseases unit, supporting the band 7 on the unit.
* Maintain high standards of nursing care.
* Lead the team to ensure quality service delivery.
* Provide effective support and leadership to staff, patients, and carers within the ward or department.
* Act as a role model, teacher, and supervisor for junior staff, students, and associated roles.
* Deliver care to patients with acute and chronic infectious diseases on an 18 bed unit.
* Support the Senior Sister acting as a deputy in her absence, providing effective support and leadership to staff, patients, and carers within the ward/department, focusing on providing high standards of care, patient safety, infection control, and effectively managing nursing resources.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting collaborative working between associated departments.
We are looking for a highly motivated experienced nurse, ideally with an infectious diseases background.
Job responsibilities
* Support the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse, acting as a deputy when the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse is absent.
* Provide effective support and leadership to both staff, patients, and carers within the ward or department.
* Act as a role model, teacher, and supervisor for junior staff and students.
* Ensure systems are in place to provide the continuity of safe effective care for patients at all times.
* Be an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements for mentorship.
* Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development.
* Understanding of professional accountability in a leadership role.
* Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context.
* Has understanding / experience of adult / child safeguarding.
Skills
* Venepuncture and Intravenous Cannulation.
* Relevant clinical skills relating to the specialty e.g. cannulation, IV drug administration.
Experience
* Relevant and recent clinical experience.
* Audit / research experience.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (appropriate to branch).
* Diploma in a health-related subject, prepared to take degree level study.
* Degree in health-related subject.
