Huddersfield Giants Community Trust is the charitable arm of Huddersfield Giants Rugby League Club, dedicated to promoting sports and physical activity within our local community. Our programmes cater to a diverse range of participants, from early years to older adults, and include tailored initiatives for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) individuals. We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Sports Development Officer to join our team and help us continue to make a positive impact in the community. Role Overview: The Sports Development Officer will play a key role in delivering a wide range of multi-sport activities across our partner schools, within the local community, and for our SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) groups. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality sports provision, promoting healthy lifestyles, and working with schools, community groups, and other partners to grow our outreach. This role involves delivering programmes for a diverse audience, including early years, children, young people, adults, and individuals with SEND. Additionally, you will be expected to perform duties in collaboration with the Rugby Football League (RFL). Key Responsibilities: Deliver engaging and dynamic multi-sport sessions to a diverse range of participants, from early years (ages 3) through to older adults, including SEND children, young people, and adults, in schools, community settings, and local facilities. Develop and manage inclusive community sports provision, including holiday camps, school provision inclusive of curriculum PE & CPD for school staff, and other initiatives tailored to all abilities and age groups. Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing partners to generate opportunities for further work and collaboration. Promote healthy lifestyles and increase participation in sports, with a focus on inclusion for SEND individuals. Plan, organize, and deliver events, tournaments, and community engagement activities for all age groups and abilities. Ensure all activities are delivered safely, inclusively, and with an emphasis on skill development, fun, and engagement. Track and report on the impact and outcomes of programs to ensure continuous improvement. Proactively network with schools and local organizations to enhance our portfolio of schools and sports sessions, helping to grow our presence and reach. Collaborate with the Rugby Football League (RFL): Support and align community outreach activities with the objectives of the RFL. Assist with the planning and delivery of RFL-based events and initiatives. Ensure all RFL-related community programmes are effectively promoted and delivered. Support with Monitoring & Evaluation of projects. Minimum Requirements: At least 3 years of experience delivering sports programmes to a range of age groups and abilities. A Level 2 or equivalent sports coaching qualification. A current DBS check. New DBS will be applied for and issued. Excellent attendance and a proven track record of delivering high-quality work. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage participants of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Passionate work ethic towards responsibilities, sport, inclusion & community initiatives. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Strong leadership qualities. Desirable Skills & Qualifications: First Aid certification. Experience in networking and building relationships with schools to promote sports programmes and expand our portfolio of schools and sessions. Knowledge of sports development pathways and community outreach strategies for all age groups, with a focus on SEND inclusion. What We Offer: A competitive salary of £25,000.
