Description Job Purpose: To provide portfolio management services to investment managers (IMs) and clients, in line with the Company’s business objectives. Key Areas of Responsibility: Assist IMs with portfolio management for a broad array of discretionary and advisory clients - individuals, families, trusts, corporate and charities - subject to the specific needs of each client. Assist with the construction, implementation and maintenance of investment models ensuring that client portfolios are aligned and managed against them, taking input from the central Research team. Conduct regular reviews of client portfolios for the ongoing suitability of investments. Assist IMs in ensuring all client communications are actioned promptly and efficiently. Deal for clients in stocks, shares, collectives and structured products on an execution-only basis or as instructed. Create schemes of investments for new clients and produce investment proposals. Monitor outliers and ensure that each outlier is dealt with or marked with an explanation. Play an active role in the development of investment strategies in coordination with other portfolio managers across the Company. Put together rationales for transactions / trades on client accounts. Keep abreast of market developments and act as a conduit to provide IMs with key information in order to enable investment portfolios to be managed in such a way as to ensure best client outcomes. Provide regular commentary on economic, market, company and fund updates to team members, both verbally and in writing. Assist IMs in maintaining due diligence documentation for any investment solutions not on the central preferred list Assist with quarterly reporting to clients. Ensure clients’ ISA and Capital Gains Tax allowances are utilised. Assist support staff with administration where necessary. Represent Charles Stanley at events, presentations, meetings etc. as required. Work with IMs and internal business development specialists to develop professional connections and new business opportunities. Personal compliance with all regulatory issues and promotion of a compliance culture throughout the office. Qualifications & Experience: Fully RDR compliant with minimum CISI Level 6 qualification, or equivalent. Experience in portfolio management for private clients including investment research, balanced portfolio management, asset allocation and alternative investment strategies. Knowledge & Skills: Strong working knowledge of financial services organisations with a particular focus on relevant regulatory and compliance requirements. Knowledge of investment processes and techniques with the ability to quickly become conversant with the Company’s products and services. Comply with the Company’s Training and Competence Scheme. Comply with the Company’s Investment Management Practice Manual. General financial planning awareness. High level and broad market awareness. Knowledge of the FCA Conduct of Business Rules and Money Laundering Regulations 1993. Full understanding of TCF. Operate a methodical and organised approach to work.
