We are looking to hire a Port Operative to join our Cardiff Port to undertake tasks and operate plant to achieve the safe loading and discharge of various cargoes from vessels.
Accountabilities
* Operate heavy plant and machinery to achieve the safe and efficient handling of cargo. Plant to include loading shovel, tug-master, forklift truck, bagging plants and materials handler.
* Engage in the safe movement of cargo in storage areas, warehouses and on vessels.
* Aid in the operation of the weighbridge and record and compile other administrative information associated with cargo movement and cargo handling accessories as required.
* Work with IT systems and internal and external software packages.
* Undertake cleaning tasks and general maintenance duties associated with the efficient operation of the port.
* Undertake duties to aid compliance with licenses for cargo handling.
* Perform all other tasks as required.
Skills, Experiences, Qualifications, and Competencies
* Full UK Driving License.
* Experience in working in a safety-critical environment.
* Heavy industry experience.
* Be flexible with working hours and location.
* Plant machinery experience.
Working Hours
Monday – Friday between the hours of 6:00am and 10:00pm, 40 hours a week and up to 12-hour shifts with occasional overtime available.
