As an EMC Technician/Engineer within the Submarines business you will help ensure that Rolls-Royce Submarines products for legacy, current class and future class submarine platforms meet customer and regulatory EMC requirements.
Your role will predominantly be onsite but may offer home based working dependent on workloads.

As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing:
You will produce EMC documentation (Control Plans, EMC Strategies, Test Plans, Test Reports etc).
1. Maintain EMC Test Laboratory (e.g. test equipment, calibration schedules etc).
2. Validation of EMC instrumentation.
3. Perform EMC qualification of equipment at component, LRU and system level.
4. Act as a focal point for EMC within the Submarines Business and liaise with Design Engineers to define and meet contractual, legislative and regulatory EMC requirements applying to products.
5. Maintain the EMC quality management system and demonstrate technical competency in support of the EMC laboratory’s ISO17025 accreditation.
6. Attend stakeholder reviews and provide EMC expertise and guidance through product development from concept to formal qualification and through-life.
7. Provide resolution to EMC issues.
8. Occasional travel to vendor/customer sites (i.e. dockyards, manufacturing facilities etc.) to perform on-site EMC testing which may be up to 2 weeks in duration.

9. Degree or working towards a degree in electrical/electronic engineering subject or have equivalent technical capability from experience in a previous EMC role.
10. Understanding of EMC principles; e.g. EMC standards (in particular Defence Standard 59-411, Mil‑Std-461, AECTP500), EMC testing (emissions/susceptibility, conducted, radiated, transient etc.), design for EMC and EMC environment life cycle.
11. Awareness of ISO17025 requirements in a test laboratory environment.
12. Development and application of test methods and procedures.
13. Accurate recording of information (test logs etc).
14. Confident written and verbal communication skills and the ability to represent R-R to customers and vendors.
15. Ability to plan, organise and manage work.
16. Good time management and able to deliver to deadlines.
17. Seeks increases in efficiency and drives continuous improvement.
18. Contribute to a culture of improving HS&E and the company’s journey to Zero Harm.
19. Training will be provided where necessary.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
