The Role
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you will be instrumental in developing, defining, and implementing the strategy for the engineering department. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Working closely with the Operations Director to lead, manage and develop a customer-focused engineering team.
2. Embedding best practices in continuous improvement, value engineering, and design for manufacturing.
3. Engaging with relevant stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and manufacturers to drive improvements in reliability and cost of goods.
4. Interpreting customer needs, being the Voice of the Customer both internally and externally, and being directly involved in the development and introduction of new products.
The Candidate
Ideally with a Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, this role requires an individual with extensive knowledge of best practices in CI, value engineering, DFM, together with NPD/NPI. Your CV and experience MUST also demonstrate your capability and achievements in:
1. Leading, managing, and mentoring an engineering team and function, while setting standards for best practices in modern manufacturing techniques.
2. Demonstrating a highly successful track record of delivering NPD/NPI projects on time and within budget.
3. Exhibiting strong team management skills, strategic planning, and extensive experience in root cause analysis and problem resolution.
4. Possessing outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade at all levels.
