ROLE OF THE JOB
Northumberland County Council is currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated Technical Officer (Housing). The post is part of the Housing Standards Team which currently sits within the Housing Services Team based at Eddie Ferguson House, Ridley Street, Blyth, NE24 3AG.
The Housing Standards Team leads on the inspection and enforcement of housing standards legislation. Reporting to the Senior Environmental Health Officer (Housing), the successful applicant will be responsible for case management of a varied workload including, housing standards inspection and enforcement, HMO Licensing, public health investigations (including drainage, filthy and verminous premises etc.) and complaint investigation.
The successful candidate should ideally have both a substantial knowledge of housing technology/construction and inspection techniques, and a professional understanding of associated legal processes and enforcement procedures. However, applications would be considered from individuals who are looking to develop a career in this area and have previous experience in the sector.

2 Science A levels or NVQ Level 3 equivalents, and thorough professional knowledge of housing technology and standards
