A leading precision manufacturing company in Redditch is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer on a fixed-term or contract basis to support production operations with a focus on water jet cutting technology.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with experience in 5-axis water jet cutting and CNC programming to contribute to a growing, fast-paced environment.
Role Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing, refining, and implementing production processes for water jet cutting operations. This includes optimizing workflows, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting the transition of parts from CNC routing to water jet cutting. The successful candidate will work closely with production, quality, and design teams to ensure that operations run efficiently and meet the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and optimize water jet cutting processes to improve efficiency, precision, and production quality.
* Work with 5-axis flat bed water jet cutting machines, ensuring effective programming and operation using Siemens NX.
* Facilitate the transition of parts and programs from CNC routers to water jet cutting equipment, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement production-ready programs, fixtures, and cutting parameters, while conducting feasibility studies to assess new materials and tooling solutions.
* Analyze production data to drive process improvements and cost reduction, troubleshoot technical issues to minimize downtime, and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) while providing technical support and training to production staff.
Key Requirements
* Strong experience in precision manufacturing with a focus on water jet cutting or similar CNC machining processes.
* Proficiency in Siemens NX for programming 5-axis water jet cutting machines.
* A technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
* Knowledge of cutting parameters, tooling, and process optimization for high-precision applications.
* Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and maintaining water jet cutting equipment.
* Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and manufacturing process development.
* Strong problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to continuous improvement and efficiency gains.
* Ability to work collaboratively with multi-functional teams in a fast-paced production environment.
