Marshalls Bricks and Masonry brings over 100 years expertise in the walling sector. We design, manufacture, and deliver bricks, walling and masonry with a specialism in low carbon concrete bricks. We are part of the Marshalls PLC, the UK’s leading manufacturer of hard landscaping, building and roofing products!
As part of our investment into our Marshalls Bricks and Masonry production sites, we’re continuing to grow our production plant in Bridgend and we recognise the need to invest in our workforce and that our most important assets are our people! As such we’re recruiting for an Operations Team Manager to join our Bridgend site (CF33 4RB) where you will exceed KPIs by ensuring that business objectives are cascaded through to the manufacturing teams, engaging the ‘hearts and minds’ of the company’s employees to create and sustain a pro-active culture in all disciplines across the business!
So what's the mission?
Your mission is to lead an operations team and will be responsible for all operational activities defined to your area, some of which include overall safe operation of plant and equipment, safety, quality, waste and OEE targets and people management. You’ll ensure that process control checks and records are completed to company standards and escalation and management of quality incidents through non-conformance process, guaranteeing all affected product or material is contained/controlled.

You’ll support a zero-tolerance approach to breaches in safety standards, ensuring that everything (Pre-start checks, PPE, Lock off, behaviours, contractor activity) within the assigned department/shift is compliant with policies/procedures and associated site controls.
You’ll be a team player and people person as you’ll be delivering team briefs/toolbox talks in a timely manner and spirit in which they are intended whilst ensuring that any initiatives are embraced and actioned in line with company guidelines. You must have previous management experience to ensure you’re able to lead your team to success throughout the employees' lifecycle!
Working 42 hours per week, Monday to Friday (6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm and 10pm - 6am) and 1 in 3 Saturdays (6am to 12 noon), you will be responsible for the operation and will stand in for the Site Manager when needed. The role will be 70% office based and 30% hands-on, however during your afternoon/late shifts, you will be required to support with a more hands-on approach to ensure tight deadlines are met!
What are the mission-critical skills?
1. IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH General Certificate and other relevant qualifications eg ILM, Lean Six Sigma desirable
2. Experience of operating in a medium/large manufacturing site with responsibility for a team of 10 or more employees
3. Experience of operating in a traditional employee relations climate
4. Knowledge & understanding of Overall Equipment effectiveness (OEE)
5. Some experience of implementing continuous improvement/lean manufacturing techniques eg DMAIC, would be an advantage
6. Experience of maximising the potential of others including development and performance management
7. Demonstrable experience of driving and improving site performance
