Purpose of Post
The Marketing & Communications Officer will be responsible for the administration and co-ordination of consistent marketing and communications messages and activities, promotions, exhibitions, PR campaigns, social media, digital/website content, uphold brand integrity, which enhances and grows the reputation and awareness of IMO Charity.
The Marketing and Communications Officer will play a key role in supporting the Business Development Manager to manage the 'public face' of IMO Charity. It is expected that the Marketing & Communications Officer will contribute strategically and creatively about how to promote the organisation's services and activities to engage all members and stakeholders, offering inventive ideas for creating captivating marketing content and the drive to deliver it with a flair for language, keeping up-to-date with changes in social media and attention to detail.
The Marketing & Communications Officer will work closely with the staff, supporting them to develop and deliver communication plans, in line with meeting the overall strategic objectives of the organisation.
A prime area of responsibility will be to work with the Business Development Manager and other team members in delivering contractual obligations and impact reporting associated with marketing and communications across all projects.
The officer will support the IMO Charity team by inputting and contributing towards the activities and development of tenders, grant applications, market research, membership support, data analysis, events and any other activities required to achieve IMO Charity marketing objectives.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Work with Business Development & Governance Strand to develop/deliver the organisation's marketing and communication strategy as well as specific project strategies across the entire spectrum of IMO Charity services.
2. Co-ordinate the day-to-day internal and external communications and marketing activities of IMO Charity and its services.
3. Liaising with internal staff, external stakeholders, members and partners to collate information and ensure that all marketing materials contain appropriate information about IMO Charity activities and services.
4. Liaising with other member organisations to develop joint initiatives to market and promote IMO Charity and its services.
5. Co-ordinate and implement specific marketing campaigns and targeted promotions to ensure desired objectives are achieved timely and within budget.
6. Co-ordinate the preparation of press statements, media articles and public relations activities to promote IMO Charity and its services, as well as collating press cuttings.
7. Undertaking copywriting, proofing, image collation and final proofing for print, online content and reports.
8. Ensure that IMO Charity communication outputs are of a high standard, respond to the needs of the target audience, and are delivered within agreed budgets and timelines.
9. Contribute towards maintaining a strong brand for IMO Charity including impact and fit-for-purpose publications, website, social media and promotional items.
10. Ensuring information on IMO Charity's website is regularly updated and managed, including third party websites, containing information about our services.
11. Ensuring that IMO Charity is maximising online marketing opportunities including search engine optimisation and social networking opportunities.
12. Evaluating the success of marketing campaigns, website statistics and provide regular reports for IMO Charity Senior Management Team and Board of Trustees.
13. Liaising with external design, print suppliers as appropriate to produce any publications, leaflets, brochures, advertisements and publicity materials required.
14. Undertake research to help plan and prepare for communications activity surrounding tenders, grant applications, new markets and business development opportunities.

2. Represent IMO Charity at meetings, conferences and exhibitions as required.
