GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant - SEN to join a dynamic school in Scunthorpe. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with students, empowering them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. As a Teaching Assistant - SEN, you will collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to deliver personalised support, helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your role will be pivotal in creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can succeed. Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant: Work one-to-one or with small groups of students to provide targeted support for their learning needs. Assist the teacher in preparing and delivering tailored lesson plans and resources. Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages student participation and confidence. Help students develop essential social and emotional skills. Support students in accessing the curriculum and ensuring they remain engaged in classroom activities. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher and SEN staff. Promote positive behaviour management and maintain a safe and structured classroom environment. Provide assistance with personal care and mobility needs, if required. Build trusting relationships with students, acting as a mentor and positive role model. Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and school staff to support student development. SEN TA Qualification: Prior experience working with children with SEN in a school setting as a Teaching Assistant - SEN. CACHE Level 3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare certification is desirable. Any degree in Education, Psychology or in a relevant field. A caring and compassionate nature, with a genuine desire to support students with additional needs. Knowledge of various special educational needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other learning difficulties. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, resilience, and the ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs. A proactive approach to problem-solving and classroom management.
