Joining the Inpatient areas in Medicine and Surgery at Peterborough City Hospital, you will work across mixed-gender wards to improve lives while making a real impact.
We can offer permanent roles with full-time and part-time options available. Flexible working will be considered where possible.
Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Assistant, you'll provide outstanding care under the guidance of experienced registered practitioners. You'll be supported by a mentor to find the right area for your skills and goals, ensuring your success in this role.
Shift Patterns:
* Inpatient areas: 07:00 - 19:30 or 19:00 - 07:30, including weekends and bank holidays.
Your Daily Duties Will Include:
* Personal Care: Supporting patients with hygiene, food, comfort, and overall reassurance, ensuring their safety and dignity.
* Mobility Support: Helping patients move around safely, contributing to their comfort and wellbeing.
* Patient-Centred Care: Learning about individual patient needs and providing tailored support.
* Clinical Environment Maintenance: Ensuring a safe, clean, and supportive space for patients and staff alike.
* Communication: Interacting with patients and families to offer reassurance and updates.
* Stock Management: Keeping track of supplies and linen to ensure everything is readily available.
* Contributing to Patient Assessment: Assisting in recording height, weight, BMI, and other key data to inform the care plan.
* Specimen Collection: Helping take specimens for testing as needed.
* Accurate Documentation: Contributing to clear and concise paper and electronic patient records.
Person specification
Key Skills
* Ability to communicate clearly in English in writing, via IT, verbally and using the telephone.
Education & Qualifications
* Maths and English skills equivalent to Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy.
* Completion of Care Certificate.
* NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health related subject.
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience caring for others or providing customer service.
* Experience of working within a team.
* Experience of caring for patients in an acute setting.
