The Role:
As a Senior Business Support Officer in our vital Pan London Asylum Seekers Consortium (LASC), you can contribute to this powerful resource by supporting Pan London local authorities who deliver key services to newly arrived asylum seeking children and young people (UASC) that arrive in London for a safe and better future. Every day UASC that arrive in London is the responsibility to receiving local authorities to ensure there are support services that meet needs of assist vulnerable young people on their journey to excel and achieve a better life. Westminster is a great lead borough in this successful initiative, and as such, our work is highly varied and deeply interesting.
As a member of our forward-thinking team, you will therefore have the chance to get involved in innovative and enterprising projects in which the needs of children and young people are at the heart of every decision. On a day-to-day basis, we will look to you to support our business operations, so you will support the LASC Manager handle anything from financial management through to supporting our LASC members in all areas of service delivery objectives. Getting involved in major projects, you will be capable of balancing multiple priorities, and you will be determined to deliver the highest standards of customer service. Using statistical data and information to produce insightful reports, you will have the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of immigration, asylum and childcare services, so there is plenty of scope to learn. With a clear focus on helping us constantly improve the service and demonstrate excellent value for money, you will find a supportive and fast-paced working environment in which your ideas and suggestions will be greatly valued.

About You:
To make the most of this career-defining opportunity, we will expect you to have plenty of initiative with the capacity to manage your own workload. With a background in supporting the development of major projects, you have good financial management capabilities, underpinned by well-developed skills in Word and Excel. Ideally you will have an understanding of the legislation, case law and government policy that relates to UASC, or you will be keen to develop this knowledge.
Excellent writing and communication skills are essential, and you will have the ability to handle sensitive information. Comfortable using data to produce reports, you will be a highly organised individual who has great attention to detail. As you will be working with a wide variety of stakeholders and social work colleagues, we will expect you to have a passion for delivering consistently excellent customer service.
