Job summary We are looking to recruit newly qualified or registered Mental Health Nurses to join our well established and highly skilled multi-disciplinary team at Marlborough House Adolescent Inpatient unit based in Swindon Wiltshire. We are a 12 bedded inpatient unit supporting young people with a variety of mental health needs including eating disorders, anxiety, depression, Psychosis, OCD and emotional dysregulation. With a reputation for excellence and providing a range of evidence-based care, our service offers a model of care which is tailored to the individual's needs for stabilization and recovery. We offer a range of therapies and experiences to assist in each young person's recovery journey and work inpartnership with families and our community colleagues. As a staff nurse at Marlborough House you will coordinate and oversee the delivery of care and day to day management of the ward. You will also key work a small number of young people on the ward and will ensure they have up to date risk assessments and care plans that reflect their individual needs. To be successful in this role you will be someone who welcomes a challenge and someone who will find it rewarding to support young people through crisis and to improve their self care, coping skills and overall wellbeing. We are looking for individuals who are able to reflect on and develop their practice, and who have an ability to work well within a diverse team. Main duties of the job As a staff nurse at Marlborough House you will coordinate the nursing team on duty, allocating routine daily activities and overseeing the delivery of a high quality service to the young people on the ward. The role will include supporting the delivery of our Eating Disorder Program (EDP) and key working and supervising meals with young people who are on this care pathway. You must have a willingness and ability therefore to role model healthy eating behaviour and to provide support as trained. The role will also include supporting the delivery of our Managing Emotions Pathway (MEP) and key working and assisting young people to learn and apply DBT informed skills to help manage distress. Full training and supervision will, ,again, be provided. You will take a proactive role in decision making on the daily care and risk management of young people and will care plan and update risk assessments for young people to ensure their care needs are all met. You will also have the opportunity to co-facilitate small groups and activities on the ward and will be supported to develop and lead in an area of service delivery. We work closely with families to support and empower them and the role will involve frequent communication with the families of young people. The role involves working shifts which may include twilights, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
