Site Agent – Civil Engineering (Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Agent to join our team onsite at Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk.
As a Site Agent, you will be responsible for managing a varied team to construct a range of general civil engineering work packages, including earthworks, drainage, communication ducts, and pavement construction. You will work in a high-profile, Tier 1 environment and ensure the health, safety, environment, and quality standards are adhered to in accordance with Ballycommon’s management system and contract requirements.
To be considered, you will come from a civil engineering background with previous experience in earthworks, drainage, communication ducts, and pavement construction, ideally within a highways environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, and Environment:
1. Provide strong, visible, proactive leadership regarding health, safety, environment, and quality standards.
2. Contribute to achieving safety targets and a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe working practices and occurrences.
3. Establish and implement site systems and controls consistent with company standards and project requirements.
4. Oversee the production and communication of risk assessments and method statements to the site supervision team.
5. Support and endorse the Behavioural Safety programme and hazard and good practice observation reporting.
6. Promote staff and frontline workers' health and wellbeing.
Programme and Production:
1. Contribute to the value engineering and buildability of the project.
2. Agree on programmes and methods of construction with the Planner and production personnel.
3. Monitor and control resource requirements, production outputs, and overhead targets.
4. Carry out constructive analysis of resourced programmes to ensure accurate operational target programmes.
5. Lead short-term planning and communicate short-term programmes to the site team and supply chain.
Operational Excellence:
1. Lead and manage a team, ensuring effective execution of works.
2. Organise resources, including the selection of sub-contractors where necessary.
3. Secure materials and plant to meet specifications and programme requirements, managing waste and material allowances.
4. Ensure RAMS, ITPs, and MARs are signed off before work commences.
5. Manage permitting and approvals processes.
6. Identify temporary works requirements and produce or manage the production of detailed and safe implementation of temporary works designs.
7. Ensure project quality standards and handover requirements are met, and non-conformance reports are timely addressed.
Experience and Knowledge:
1. Significant experience in civil engineering with strong technical knowledge, particularly in highways work.
2. Knowledge of CDM Regulations and their implementation.
3. Understanding of specifications and testing regimes relevant to civil engineering and highway works.
4. Ability to produce RAMS, Task Briefing Sheets, and safe systems of work.
5. Experience managing small teams and strong organisational skills.
Qualifications:
1. Degree/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or similar.
2. Membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent (desirable).
3. IOSH Managing Safely certification.
4. SMSTS and CSCS card.
5. Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator certification (desirable).
6. First Aider and Fire Marshall certifications (desirable).
7. Fit for work medical (or safety-critical medical) (desirable).
