Location: Knostrop / Hybrid Working including traveling across the Yorkshire Region.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Catchment Technical Specialist to join the Water Service Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The purpose of this role is to deliver world-class asset and operational excellence by utilizing GIS techniques to support effective catchment and raw water management. This involves enhancing the understanding of risks through visual representation, collecting and analysing data to inform decision-making, and conducting on-site investigations to support catchment management. The ultimate goal is to ensure the company achieves effective catchment management, regulatory compliance, operational integrity and resilience, operational efficiency, business plan out-performance, and health and safety excellence.
Where you fit in:
As our Catchment Technical Specialist you will:
* Have a practical mindset, enjoy working outdoors in all weathers, and be comfortable taking a hands-on approach to work tasks.
* Travel around by vehicle and hike regularly, conducting catchment walkovers for all drinking water catchments, which will consist of between 5 and 10 miles hikes in the countryside.
* Focus on integrating catchment and raw water data sets with GIS information for both the business and external stakeholders.
* Conduct regulatory catchment risk assessments and risk review workshops for Drinking Water Safety Plans.
* Drive the development of a catchment modelling approach to understand raw water risk to drinking water abstractions.
* Provide technical support in developing GIS and related datasets to identify causes of raw water deterioration and monitor mitigation impacts.
* Undertake model building and calibration of pesticide risks for YW catchments.
* Maintain and support the visualization of risk in Drinking Water Safety Plans for catchments and raw water sources, a key regulatory requirement.
* Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, including landowners, the Environment Agency, and Natural England.
* Gather and analyse catchment field data to monitor upland and lowland interventions.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
* Degree in Geography/Environmental Sciences/Land Management or relevant technical work experience.
* GIS expert user - (ArcGIS preferred).
* Proficient in the use of IT, particularly MS Excel for analysis of complex datasets.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
* Experience in report writing and communication with external stakeholders.
* Understanding of catchment management and raw water processes.
* Outline knowledge or experience of Water Quality matters, including the Regulations, particularly those relevant to raw water issues.
* Analytical diagnosis of raw water quality issues.
* Rigorous attention to detail to ensure 'right first time' performance.
* Clearly demonstrate Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
* Full Driving Licence.
You will also benefit from having:
* BASIS Foundation award in Agronomy or experience in agricultural knowledge.
* Previous experience in a regulated environment.
* Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors.
* Resource management.
* Proficient knowledge of corporate systems.
* Knowledge of YW risk policy and process.
* Ability to impart knowledge to the wider business.
