This is a fantastic opportunity to join WSP as part of an expanding team delivering a variety of prestigious projects. The role will be based in our centrally located Wellington Place office, which provides a quality, flexible and dynamic working space focused on the health and wellbeing of our staff.
YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?
You will be joining our expanding Building Structures team as an Engineer, with responsibility for the project management, technical leadership, and delivery of schemes from inception through to handover of the completed scheme to the client.
In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:
* Develop innovative and sustainable designs from concept for a range of challenging projects, including transportation hubs, tall towers, healthcare, defence, and education schemes.
* Take a key technical leadership role on multi-disciplinary design projects from concept stage through to detailed design, in coordination with Architects, Engineers, and specialist consultants.
* Participate in tender bids and business development opportunities as they arise.
* Agree fees and manage the commercial position on projects.
* Exercise independent judgement and resolve technical issues.
YOUR TEAM
You’ll be joining a team of diverse and talented individuals that work together to:
* Lead the design process, encouraging team collaboration to deliver the right solutions to the agreed programme.
* Manage processes to ensure technical issues and risks are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
* Form strong working relationships with other WSP disciplines, external design consultants, stakeholders, and clients.
* Provide sustainable development solutions from site selection through to detailed design and construction.
* Provide specialist advice and design solutions to our clients on sustainable design, net zero carbon, MMC & DfMA.
Reporting to a senior member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and high-profile major multi-disciplinary development projects across the region, in sectors including Transportation, High-rise, Commercial & Mixed use, Retail, Education, and Healthcare, including recent wins in the Defence sector.
WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE
* Degree or HNC/HND qualification in a relevant discipline.
* Chartered or following a path to Chartership.
* Solid experience in Civil & Structural detailed design.
* Detailed working knowledge of national codes and standards.
* Proven understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents and design concepts.
* Experience with structural design software packages such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, and CAD software such as Revit is beneficial.
* Experience of working with clients and contractors to achieve technical solutions.
