Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Inflammatory Bowel Disease Specialist Nurse to join our IBD Specialist Nursing team at Salford Care Organisation. The post requires vision, dedication and passion for the speciality, which is underpinned by a desire to provide the highest standards of patient care. You will be an enthusiastic, motivated and organised individual with advanced clinical skills and knowledge, with the skill to work autonomously and as a key member of the IBD MDT. The role involves assessing and initiating treatment plans, running nurse led clinics, managing a busy telephone and email advice service, inpatient support and drug monitoring and prescribing. In addition, providing education and supporting IBD patients and their families to understand and manage their condition is also integral to the role. A commitment to individualised evidence based patient care and ability to act sensitively with empathy as well as having excellent communication skills is essential. You will be joining a supportive and friendly team of Highly Specialist IBD nurses, IBD Lead Nurse and IBD Lead Consultant. The team work closely with all members of the MDT. The post holder will be appointed as Band 7 if the successful applicant meets the Band 7 essential criteria. Main duties of the job A key responsibility of the post holder will be to manage Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients on biologic treatments working within national and local guidelines. Working alongside clinical colleagues and autonomously to provide expert care, treatment and support to patients. The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of investigations, treatment, monitoring and review of patients who may have unstable, complex disease. Play a key role within the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure a seamless, co-ordinated and timely approach to care. The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and service users. The post holder will contribute to achieving the objectives of the Gastroenterology Service and meeting IBD Standards. The post holder will be professional, approachable and supportive to the rest of the team and service users.
