The Platform Engineering capability within Digital is a growing team dedicated to ensuring that the technologies selected and the way they are implemented meet the business objectives of our clients. There are several disciplines within the Digital Customer Experience team: delivery, business, integration, digital architects, and technical managers, many of whom can perform in more than one of these roles.
Your role
* Actively work with our clients on digital IaaS, PaaS, SaaS solution strategies, designs, and delivery programmes, transforming their business by delivering solutions and methodologies following best practice.
* Implement and maintain platforms and services based on business requirements, constraints, and strategies.
* In time, create, maintain, and enhance standards for delivery for business functionality, as well as develop, maintain, and enhance design standards and patterns for infrastructure and system components.
* Apply technical innovation with contributions towards internal projects and client bids to win new business.
* Contribute to the business unit’s strategy directly through personal growth, alongside coaching and mentoring of junior talent.
Your skills and experience
* Experience working in Agile or DevOps teams.
* Familiarity with agile project management tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps.
* Knowledge of public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
* Experience with Continuous Integration systems such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, CircleCI, or Github Actions.
* Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and PowerShell.
* Experience with Configuration Management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Salt.
* Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-code technologies, such as Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, or Pulumi.
* Experience in building secure applications and infrastructure.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey and understand complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
* SRE skills including observability and telemetry monitoring.
* Familiarity with the HashiCorp Suite (Packer, Terraform, Vault, Vagrant, Consul).
* Experience in containerization using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Helm.
* Programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, Java, C#, and Typescript.
Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance. To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.
