We are seeking a Production Engineer to work for a manufacturer of scientific instrumentation based in Cheadle Hulme.
Working in a scientific and technical environment, you will be responsible for building and functional testing of instruments and interfacing products whilst adhering to quality standards, health & safety, and environmental policies. With a positive and methodical approach, you will be encouraged to learn and develop skills to ensure the smooth running of production lines and the quality of output whilst collaborating effectively with the interfacing teams.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Build new systems and interface products
2. Functional testing of product (pre-test)
3. Perform quality inspection
4. Maintain and record assembly times via ERP system
5. Work collaboratively with the analytical test team
6. Discuss and solve complex problems with the production department
7. Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental policies
Essential Experience, Skills & Person
1. A relevant degree in manufacturing or engineering is desirable but not essential. Acceptable qualifications include A Levels, ONC, City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC National Diploma Level 3 or 4, or equivalent NVQ Level 3
2. Proven experience in mechanical, electrical fitting, or vacuum systems
3. Familiarity with design and production costs, including factors like waste, downtime, and rework
4. Strong oral and written communication skills, with a high proficiency in English
5. Exceptional organizational and planning abilities
6. Self-motivated, flexible, proactive, and committed to delivering high-quality work
7. Capable of working independently and with minimal supervision while contributing effectively to a team
