Your role and responsibilities
This role is required to maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. The individual handles the installation, repair and maintenance of pumps (vacuum, air, water, etc.) and all other electrical machinery. This position requires knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard practices in the industrial electrical/mechanic field of expertise. The individual must have the ability to work from plans, blueprints, sketches, models, and oral or written instructions, and to exercise judgment in determining techniques. The individual must be able to troubleshoot on various machines, processes and procedures and communicate with all levels of people and customers. It is critical that the individual in this role is team player, good listener, and problem solver and is able to make recommendations or solutions.
Qualifications for the role
* Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting using blueprints.
* Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
* Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
* Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
* Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand and powered industrial shop equipment.
* Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
* Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
* Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
* Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
* Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
* Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with 5-S, procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
* Requires an associate degree or diploma in a maintenance area such as industrial mechanic, electrical/electronic or equivalent education or a minimum of 3 years' experience.
* Must be able to troubleshoot electrical/electronic equipment issues and all other motors and controls equipment.
* Technical understanding and familiarity with power tools.
* Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
* High mechanical aptitude.
* Understanding of a manufacturing environment and terminology.
* Strong sense of customer urgency.
* Must be a self-starter and willing to learn all positions.
* Required to wear steel toe safety shoes and safety glasses.
* Willing to work overtime when needed.
