Purpose of Head of Finance: To assist the Director of Finance to manage and develop the Finance Department and ensure that all activities and functions of the Department are aligned with organisational priorities in order to deliver our Mission and values. Main Responsibilities: General Requirements RepresenttheDirectorof Financeatexternalmeetingswhenthey are unavailable. Leadprojectswithinfinanceasrequired,includingdevelopingproject plansandseeing through to completion. Work with Director of Finance on costings and service development. Work with the Director of Finance on process improvements within finance department. Input into Financial Risk Management, policies and processes. Management of the payroll processing for the organisation. Complete Month End Management Accounts, to include: Liaisewithservicesaround management account information requirements. Reviewofposting and reconciliation within finance team. Support finance assistants, assistant accountants with month end process. Preparation of variance analysis report for Director of Finance review. Suggestion and implementation of improvements and efficiencies to month end processes and documents. Stakeholder Management: Providefinancesupporttoservicesasrequired,includingholdingbudgetmeetings with service managers Workwithservices/departmentstoensurefinanceprocessesremainfitforpurpose, developing and hosting training as required. Work with external stakeholders as required. Annual Processes: Preparationofannualbudgets. Management of the external audit process and preparation of statutory accounts for the organisation. Timely filing with Charity Commission Northern Ireland and Companies House. Essential Criteria: Accountant qualification (ACA / CIMA / ACCA) with a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience 2 years' demonstrable experience in (a) Finance Business Partnership working with budget holders across an organisation to help their understanding of financial information, (b) a) Producing finance reports and data for senior staff within an organisation and (c) Competence using Microsoft Excel, experience in reviewing and implementing improvements to existing finance processes. Desirable Criteria: Knowledge of legislation and regulation relevant to the charity sector, including SORP guidance.
