Parexel is hiring a Global Therapeutic Area Head, Immunology and Rheumatology, to join our Global Medical Services organization (GMS).
In addition to setting the strategic direction and leading the team, the Immunology and Rheumatology Area Head will provide medical and executive leadership both internally and externally (with clients) in support of Parexel's overall strategy and objectives. This includes delivering medical and scientific expertise to clients and colleagues from other departments in the areas of business development, study design/optimization, and overall development strategies. It also includes building, implementing, and presenting credible and tailored cross-functional delivery solutions for drug development in Immunology and Rheumatology. Additionally, a significant portion of time will be spent directly building and maintaining trust with clients. New business awarded in the Immunology and Rheumatology space, talent attraction, development and retention, and customer satisfaction will be key performance metrics.
Day-to-day responsibilities
* Lead the Immunology and Rheumatology franchise by inspiring the oncology MD team and all Parexel stakeholders to work at their best, have a sense of urgency, and feel proud to be part of this endeavor to bring more life to patients.
* Provide medical and scientific direction and training to the proposal team, participate in bid pursuit meetings, and establish status as a senior medical leader with clients.
* Support project/study delivery in Immunology and Rheumatology, anticipate, mitigate, and monitor risks of delays and quality issues, and participate in escalation meetings as a senior executive.
* Maintain and develop a strong network in the Immunology and Rheumatology area (Academy, Patient Advocacy Group, and Industry).
* Advise clients/pharmaceutical companies on drug development strategies and innovations in coordination with other subject matter experts.
* Collaborate with the business development team to identify relevant customers and tailor Parexel delivery solutions.
* Monitor advances in Immunology and Rheumatology and clinical research areas to integrate them into Parexel delivery solutions.
* Interact and collaborate with senior Parexel leaders in various functions to build holistic and cross-functional delivery solutions to meet patients’ and clients’ needs.
Desired skills, experience, and education

* Specialization in Immunology and Rheumatology, including:
o Scientific acumen and understanding of the latest medical innovations in Immunology and Rheumatology, with a track record of publications and achievements.
o Knowledge of Immunology and Rheumatology drug development processes leading to successful development and market access.
o Understanding of standard of care, patient journey, needs, and care; a medical degree is preferred.
o Board certification or senior academic credentials in Immunology and Rheumatology.
* Ability to inspire trust in customers and internal/external stakeholders, and to play a key role in business development in partnership with sales.
* Leadership to mentor and motivate a global team of medical experts in Immunology and Rheumatology.
* Established network and name recognition within the Academy, Industry, and Patient Advocacy Groups in Immunology and Rheumatology.
* Prior industry experience in CRO, Pharma, or a leadership position in a clinical institution/hospital/health administration.
* Strategic vision in Immunology and Rheumatology with the ability to integrate complexities of the drug development environment.
* Executive leadership skills to drive and support corporate initiatives and collaborate with other Franchise Heads and senior leaders.
* Business acumen and understanding of the business and financial model of a CRO.
* Experience in early phase TA is desired.
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required by the business.
