Children and Young Persons Domestic Abuse Advocate – IOW
The overall purpose of this role is to work with families, where there is an ongoing history of domestic abuse to achieve their goals and improve outcomes for families.

Essential Requirements
- Knowledge of safeguarding best practice for children
- Experience of carry out assessments and co-produce individual support plans
- Experience of completing risk assessment and carrying out referrals
- Experience working with children and young people
- Experience of working within educational services
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development
- Understanding of Aces and trauma informed interventions.

The Role

This is a great opportunity for the right person to support the development of this service to deliver evidenced based and researched support for children and young people who are experiencing and/or instigating domestic abuse.
You will be skilled and experienced at engagement, able to develop and deliver individual one to one sessions and group work, work in partnership with colleagues to ensure a whole family approach and take a lead role where necessary.
This successful applicant will work in schools and colleges and in the community, will attend safeguarding meetings and contribute to other professional meetings where necessary.
The role holder will be required to update all information on a case management system, complete reports and be part of a wider team working across the Isle of Wight. As well as supporting children in school, the role will include coordinating and delivering the Mentors in Violence Protection and the training of teaching staff and students.
There will also be the opportunity to contribute to the Adolescence to Parent Violence programme.

You will be a skilled, motivated and innovative person driven by passion to support children and young people where their psychosocial development has been impacted due to their experiences of domestic abuse. You will have worked with children and/or young people and will understand their development phases and know how to deliver age appropriate sessions to maximise impact and engagement.
You will enjoy being part of a team and love learning which you will share, just as your colleagues will share theirs. You will believe in a whole family approach and remain client centred at all times. You will be able to use national and local evidence based resources to develop your own groups and individual sessions – appropriate for the age of the person you are working with. You will also be able to work in partnership with colleagues to ensure whole family approach, taking a lead role where necessary.
