Job Description:
Trainee Heat Treatment Operator Blaenavon, South Wales 37 hours / week 3 Shift
Job Summary:
To process parts through heat treatment, to the correct customer specification.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
1. Work to achieve departmental KPI’s with respect to Right First Time (RFT), On Time in Full (OTIF) Productivity etc.
2. Process product in line with the method of manufacture (MoM) ensuring that the relevant standard operating procedure (S.O.P’s) is followed at all times.
3. Build and run the furnace loads to the company quality procedures.
4. Load and unload product in and out of the furnace and between heat treatment operations through the use of a Charger, FLT, pedestrian truck and/or overhead crane.
5. Attach thermocouples to product as per the quality procedure, and record usage onto the appropriate record form.
6. Monitor cycles on all furnaces, ensuring within specification. Raise appropriate standard report forms if deviation to cycle specification occurs.
7. Record on a daily basis key data and information in accordance with the relevant system and/or process including but not limited to logging production throughput data onto EFACS, raising non-conformance notes, creating and storing data records etc.
8. Encourage and actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by performing daily TPM, and 5S activities.
9. Cut test samples on a band saw in line with lab requirements for mechanical and metallurgical tests.
10. Perform Brinell hardness testing and recording in line with specification requirements to ensure product quality.
11. Be actively involved in any process improvement or quality investigation regarding heat treatment practices or non-conforming product.
12. Achieve required Quality Standard through strict adherence to policies, procedures and documentation.
13. Read and understand the appropriate Risk Assessments and Work Instructions.
14. Comply with all aspects of Health & Safety (H&S) including ensuring that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements are adhered to at all times.
15. Maintain working environment to expected levels of housekeeping and organisation at all times.
16. Undertake other tasks within capabilities, in any department across the business, as requested by the Manager/Supervisor.
Experience and Qualifications:
1. Able to interpret detailed written instructions.
2. Able to interpret temperature graphs.
3. Computer literate.
4. Experience of working within heavy manufacturing.
5. Experience of performing heat treatment and/or furnace operations would be advantageous.
