Compass Be Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) and Specialist Team ensure Children and Young People (CYP) access the right help, at the right time, in the right setting, MHSTs will remove duplication and avoid CYP/families being bounced in between services.

The service supports CYP and families providing extra capacity for early intervention support within school and college settings in three core areas:
1. Providing evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing issues
2. Supporting designated senior mental health leads in each setting
3. Providing timely advice to school and college staff and parents as required
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit and enthusiastic person who has a good knowledge of educational environments, experience of working with CYP and their families, and experience of delivering specific therapeutic interventions to children ( CBT, solution focused brief therapy) You will have the ability to conduct mental health assessments of children and young people, assessing risk, and provide formulation for interventions. We are looking for someone with excellent oral and written skills, with ability to work independently and as part of our wider team. The Specialist Mental Health Practitioner role will be delivering interventions to CYP who have been referred in with SEN or Adverse childhood experiences. The support requires extra considerations, such as time to build relationships, adapted working to meet goals, and additional support to families, and professionals involved in their care.

Qualifications
Essential
15. Be a suitably qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner
Desirable
16. Teaching qualification
17. Youth Mental Health First Aid trained
Experience
Essential
18. Knowledge of educational environments
19. Knowledge of safeguarding issues
20. Knowledge of capacity and consent issues including Gillick competence
21. Experience of working with children and young people, their families and others
22. Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders
23. Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
24. Experience of working with anxiety disorders
25. Experience of working with affective (mood) disorders
26. Experience of the delivery of specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people or their families ( CBT, solution focused brief therapy

27. Knowledge of the functional operation of specialist Children and Young Peoples Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing services teams
28. Experience of working with children and their families in a healthcare setting
29. Experience of working with children and their families in an education setting
30. Experience of monitoring and recording outcome measures for childrens emotional wellbeing
31. Experience of navigating complex social systems and environments, who may have conflicting priories or agendas
32. Experience of working with looked after children
33. Experience of working with other vulnerable groups

34. Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children
35. Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with families
36. Ability to work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within staff group
37. Ability to conduct mental health assessments of children and young people
38. Ability to make an assessment of risk and to record and communicate it appropriately
39. Ability to take appropriate action to mitigate or manage risk
40. Excellent oral and written communication skills
41. Excellent time management and organisational skills
42. Access to own transport or evidence of ability to commute efficiently between community venues.
