We’re Recruiting: Preconstruction Manager - Shape the Future of Energy with Us!
At the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), we are proud to be part of the monumental Sizewell C project. This 3.2-gigawatt nuclear power station will supply low-carbon electricity to 6 million homes, shaping the UK's energy future for the next 60 years. We’re looking for an experienced Preconstruction Manager (M&T) to join our team and play a key role in delivering the Marine and Tunnels scope of this iconic project.
As Preconstruction Manager, you will lead and manage all preconstruction activities for the Marine and Tunnels package, overseeing the planning, procurement, and execution of vital infrastructure components, including intake and outfall tunnels and offshore connections. You will work closely with stakeholders, including contractors, designers, and risk leads, to ensure that everything is delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You’ll have a hand in developing strategies, managing the Target Outturn Cost (TOC) process, and ensuring that all deliverables are met to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Preconstruction Planning & Coordination: Define the scope of work, develop and execute strategies, and ensure effective coordination between teams and other project elements.
Stakeholder Management: Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders to ensure the project is on track and aligned with business objectives.
Budget & Schedule Management: Monitor the progress of preconstruction activities, track milestones, and ensure all deliverables are met on time and within budget.
Risk Management: Work closely with the Risk Leads to identify and resolve risks, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of the project.
Contractor & Subcontractor Management: Oversee contractors and subcontractors, ensuring the alignment of contractual requirements and smooth execution of work.
Continuous Improvement: Apply lessons learned from previous projects and continuously strive to improve processes and efficiencies.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Proven Project Delivery: Experience in delivering large-scale projects within a technically complex and regulated environment, ideally within the nuclear or energy sector.
Preconstruction Expertise: Strong background in managing preconstruction phases, including planning, procurement, risk management, and ensuring cost, schedule, and quality targets are met.
Stakeholder Engagement: Proven success in engaging with and managing diverse stakeholder groups, including contractors, consultants, and clients.
Engineering & Contract Management: A solid understanding of engineering and construction methodologies, and experience with contract management, particularly NEC contracts.
Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
Analytical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to manage budgets, track progress, and forecast project outcomes.
