REFERRAL COORDINATOR Location: Morristown, TN SUMMARY Complete referrals to specialists to ensure the highest level of care necessary to address their medical needs when that need exceeds the scope of our care by utilizing a team-based model. RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Prioritize referrals according to the level of urgency, schedules patient appointments for specialty and diagnostic testing services and communicates referral information to patients Prepares all insurance pre-authorizations and pre-certifications to specialists based on the direction of the medical provider Compile information concerning patient’s clinical background and referral needs. Per referral guidelines, provide appropriate clinical information to specialty Maintain referral and diagnostic tracking system by following up with specialists and diagnostic facilities to obtain test results and visit summaries Maintain excellent customer service standards with both patients and staff. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience : High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior medical experience as a medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, and LPN preferred. Communication Skills: Must possess the ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally with clients, coworkers, and members of management. Excellent professional customer service skills required. Bilingual preferred, but not required. Computer Skills : To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software and Electronic Medical Records software.
