About myjobscotland
myjobscotland is, unarguably, the most successful public-sector jobs portal in the UK, saving its client organisations £multi-millions every year since our inception in 2008. Now celebrating 16 years as one of Scotland's most used shared services, it is estimated we have saved the taxpayer over £304 million compared to the previous advertising costs of Scottish Councils.
Based within, and part of, COSLA (the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities), we've expanded from our original focus on Scotland's 32 local councils to become the recruitment medium of choice for over 1800 different organisations, from schools, colleges and universities to the fire & rescue, adult and childcare.
The Role
We are now looking for someone to join our team as an Apprentice in Digital Applications where you will have the opportunity to gain a diploma in Digital Applications (SCQF6). This role is a combination of digital systems, customer services, and social media marketing. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing support to candidates and customers of myjobscotland.
Due to funding limitations relating to the qualification, we can only consider applicants aged between 16 and 24.
You will be the first point of contact for enquiries and will work closely with our small team to ensure efficient communication and that support queries are answered within our SLAs.
As part of your diploma, you will have the opportunity to support a variety of projects within the team, such as:
1. Developing the website content
2. Improving the advertiser portal
3. Creating and posting content across our social media accounts
4. Assisting customer adoption of video software in job adverts
The nature of this role is hybrid and can include a mixture of working from home and from the COSLA office based in Edinburgh. This is a fixed position of 15 months.
What is a Digital Applications Apprenticeship?
Digital applications is the term used for any software programmes used to perform useful tasks. Your role within the myjobscotland team will involve troubleshooting and solving problems using a range of different application software, and you will work closely with an assigned work-based assessor who will provide guidance and support in creating a comprehensive portfolio of workplace evidence.
The apprenticeship will be completed entirely through workplace assessments; therefore, there will be no requirement to attend college. However, time during the working week can be allocated to develop your portfolio. It is expected you will meet virtually with your assessor every four weeks where you can discuss progress and seek guidance/support with planning.
You will receive training in all aspects of digital applications used within the myjobscotland team and have the opportunity to suggest new digital tools which may complement or replace existing processes.
How to Apply
Applications should be made through the myjobscotland website by 11.59pm on Sunday 09 February 2025.
It is anticipated interviews will be held on Thursday 20 February 2025.
