Job Title: Design Engineer Reports to: Design & Engineering Manager Location: Bishops Stortford Working Hours: 8.30am - 5.30pm Mon - Fri (1 hour lunch break) Salary: £35,000 - £55,000 Dependent on skills and experience Job Description The Design Engineer will work within the engineering team to support both the operational and commercial aspects of the business. The role involves project managing scaffold and temporary works design packages from the tender stage to the final construction issue, including providing on-site support as required. The Design Engineer will be integral in driving projects forward to successful outcomes, using skills, experience, and initiative to develop the optimum solution. The ideal candidate will have experience in scaffold design and the ability to visualise and detail designs clearly and concisely. Key Responsibilities Production of temporary works designs of varying complexity from concept through to completion Production of scaffold design calculations and design risk assessments Project management and effective time management to meet deadlines Keeping up to date with industry guidance, British Standards & Eurocodes to ensure compliance Providing advice to clients and colleagues on design-related matters and best practices Conduct site surveys to gather the necessary information for safe and effective design execution Reading and interpreting design briefs and structural drawings Representing the company at design meetings with industry professionals Communicate with clients and colleagues at all levels Skills and Experience (Essential) 3 years of experience in scaffold design Strong knowledge of traditional tube and fitting scaffold and Layher system scaffold Proficient in Autodesk software AutoCAD, preferably within the construction industry Sound understanding of design standards EN 12810, EN 12811, BS 5975, BS EN 1991-1-3, BS EN 1991-1-4 & full suite of NASC Guidance documents Ability to produce supporting calculations for design verification Awareness of CDM 2015 and an understanding of designers' duties and responsibilities Experience reading and interpreting structural drawings, client briefs, and technical data Skills and Experience (Desirable) Working knowledge of structural analysis software, ideally Graitec Advanced Design Experience checking and signing off designs for construction Understanding of construction hoists and mechanical lifting equipment Experience producing 3D CAD rendered models using AutoCAD and Tekla Structures Experience working with Trimble Realworks and point cloud data Basic understanding of Building Information Modelling (BIM) Qualifications: Degree / HNC / HND qualified in a relevant engineering discipline Commitment to Continued Professional Development Details of Package Salary: £35,000 - £55,000 Working Hours: 8.30am - 5.30pm Mon - Fri (1 hour lunch break) Pension contributions after 3 months of service 30 days annual leave, including bank holidays Personal Investment Career progression: Training and development opportunities with a focus on internal promotions Annual Performance review, focused on personal and professional development Benefits Bonus opportunities, based on performance and the business achieving targets Annual team events Gym membership after 1 month of service Accident & life cover after 3 months of service Access to an electric car salary sacrifice scheme after 2 years of service Option to join the company's private healthcare scheme after 2 years of service
