An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of an Attendance and Educational Improvement Officer at Richard Lander School. The main purpose of this role is to contribute to raising achievement by improving school attendance.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Assisting the school in meeting obligations and targets related to school attendance, especially punctuality and persistent absence.
2. Identifying target groups of students and monitoring patterns of absence.
3. Promoting positive attitudes by students and families towards education and ensuring that parents/carers are aware of their statutory responsibilities.
4. Attending attendance monitoring meetings within the school and organizing meetings with parents.
5. Making unsupervised contact with families to assess reasons impacting attendance and facilitating their return to regular full-time education.
6. Establishing and developing a professional service to support the school in raising attendance, investigating persistent absences, and improving punctuality.
7. Supporting the attendance administration officer with ensuring registers are completed accurately and in good time.
