Overview
* Schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, 10:30 am-6:30 pm when after school program and Summer Camp are in session. 9am-5pm when programs are not in session.
Responsibilities
* Sweep, and mop all floors as needed.
* Vacuum daily and shampoo carpets as needed.
* Wash, dust and polish furniture and woodwork
* Clean restrooms, windows, blinds, and light fixtures as needed.
* Wash and paint walls when needed.
* Clean, disinfect and sanitize tables, doorknobs, light switches daily.
* Inventory and replenish janitorial supplies.
* Responsible for exterior maintenance of Corps properties to include. Removal of leaves and trash, as well as removal of snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, steps and driveway.
* Assist with program activities: set up tables, chairs and other equipment for ongoing activities and special events.
* Receive food deliveries and donations and store in assigned areas.
* Take trash and recyclables out as per NYC Dept of Sanitation schedule.
* Inform the Corps Officer of damaged or unsafe conditions in the building.
* Attend staff meetings and workshops as needed.
* Receive and store donations and prepare for The Salvation Army truck pick up weekly.
* Willingness to pick up donations in Corps van.
* Assist Corps Officer with seasonal maintenance and activities (ie: kettle sign upkeep, driving volunteers/staff to assigned areas, Angel Tree program).
* Carry out other duties as assigned by Corps Officer
Qualifications
* Candidate must have a High School diploma or GED.
* Valid NYS driver’s license.
* Handyman/Tradesman skills preferred.
* Working knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment and able to learn acceptable cleaning methods.
* Must be able to operate manual/power tools in a safe manner.
* Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Spanish speaker a plus.
* Ability to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
* Physically able to do rigorous manual labor, including lifting up to 50lbs.
* Flexibility in schedule and lunch period (especially October through December).
