Job Responsibility:
Myles Academy is an independent special school for 13-19 year olds looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant to support the planned high-quality teaching, learning and assessment for SEN learners from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. This role will start on Monday 28th April 2025, pending references and safeguarding checks.
To succeed in this role you will need to demonstrate that you have the following:
* Experience of supporting SEN pupils in primary or secondary.
* A proven record of good or outstanding practice.
* Minimum GCSE grade C in math and English.
* Experience of helping to plan and deliver a creative and academically engaging curriculum, meeting the needs of individual pupils.
* Experience or willingness to deliver vocational subjects such as Asdan Short Courses independently, which may involve arts and crafts activities.
* Good and consistent classroom and behaviour management skills.
* Emotional resilience and excellent communication skills.
* The desire to be engaged in all aspects of school life from the academic to the pastoral.
* A passion to make a real difference to the education and lives of young people.
* A full, clean driving licence and own car with business insurance or willingness to drive the school car to activities.

Duties will include:
* Supporting the teaching and assessment of functional skills and ASDAN courses principally, to support pupils' journey into work or other positive progression.
* Helping plan and deliver innovative teaching sessions to inspire and motivate.
* Helping develop teaching and learning resources.
* Helping deliver diagnostic assessments and prepare Individual Learning Plans from the results of diagnostics.
* Helping review learners' progress and give constructive feedback to learners.
* Helping develop and support the preparation of Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans with appropriate effective teaching and learning strategies, resources, and assessments.
* Helping maintain attendance registers and records of progress.
* Undertaking professional development and training to contribute to individual and school development.
* Leading off-site activities for pupils.
* Carrying out all duties with due regard to Health and Safety and e-safety requirements.
* Embedding British Values, Prevent, Safeguarding, and E-safety.
* Preparing and delivering lessons based on set curriculum for ASDAN Short courses to students in a classroom or remote setting, teaching class sizes of up to 6 students.
* Carrying out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.
