About the Role
The Traffic & Flood Risk Management Service area seeks to deliver an excellent customer-focused service efficiently and effectively, focusing on the Council's role as the Highway Authority while adhering to Corporate, Departmental, and Government priorities.
This post will work under the supervision of the Technical Lead. The primary purpose is to use developed road safety investigation and engineering skills to take measures that prevent accidents. Ideally, you will be a qualified Road Safety Engineering Auditor who undertakes studies into accidents on the highway to help deliver safety improvements. You should have the ability to explain contentious and complicated highway proposals, demonstrating diplomacy, accountability, and approachability in an ever-changing work environment.
We are looking for a proactive and efficient individual who can put citizens and customers first and work with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You must also be organized and possess excellent communication skills to ensure that the outputs of the service area are maintained to professional standards.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* A developed knowledge and experience of developing and introducing road safety and highway policies, procedures, and programmes.
* A working experience of current practice for the design, construction, and successful delivery of road safety and highway schemes.
* A developed knowledge and experience of undertaking road safety audits and development control advice to ensure the safety of the highway network.
* Understanding and experience in budget management processes, procurement procedures, and contract/commissioning processes to achieve effective service delivery.
* A can-do attitude and willingness to learn and understand complex highway processes.
* The ability to work and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders from multiple organisations and experience in handling conflict and managing sensitive issues to achieve positive outcomes.
