The main purpose of the role is to plan and organise activities to ensure the delivery of programme outputs, specifically around programme planning, governance, resource management and reporting.
It is an exciting time within IT Services at the University as we implement our new target operating model. This new structure and new ways of working will set us to deliver world class support and services to our more than 8,000 colleagues and 30,000 students.
The department is growing in all areas, and we are looking for driven, skilled and motivated new colleagues to help us achieve our goals.
We are a welcoming, supportive team operating in a hybrid working environment offering an excellent work life balance.
What will you be doing?
You will research, collate, organise and edit material for reports and board packs, ensuring smooth planning and coordination of tasks, produce project and programme status reports and dashboards, prioritising issues for programme and senior project managers, analyse and review work processes for continual improvements and confident to put your own suggestions and ideas forward.
You will service programme and governance meetings with thorough preparation of agendas, taking minutes, progressing actions as appropriate, advise stakeholders on programme methodology and support resource allocation needs, provide advice to peers and our customers seeking to resolve issues both independently and working as a team, develop and monitor a system for tracking programme activities, act as a link point between senior project manager or workstreams, support the identification of potential risks in project plans, and establish collegial and effective relationships with senior managers and influencers.
You should apply if
You will understand the key principles of programme methodology and an effective project management framework, and the importance of strong governance, administration, organisation, and guidance to ensure the success of high-profile projects and programmes within the IT Services department for the University.
You will act as a “go-to” for key programme issues or queries, striving to help us establish our PMO maturity as we grow our PMO team, creating a ‘centre of excellence,’ whilst being flexible, approachable, and proactive supporting any area of the PMO team for those individuals who need it.
For the role we are seeking, along with the areas of PMO service experience and knowledge (governance support and assurances for quality assurance, risk, benefits, financial, and board governance) we are looking for individuals with specialist areas of experience; in reporting, and/or resource allocation / management.
You have a passion for projects and programmes and the core values of an effective PMO, and getting things done the right way! You will possess good knowledge of a PMO function and its place within projects and programmes, appreciating its importance and value within an IT Services environment, and why the PMO function plays such a pivotal role.
