We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic speciality grade surgeon.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy general surgical team within a pleasant district general hospital, right in the middle of the beautiful Dorset countryside. The postholder will be required to support the general surgical ward activity, clinics and theatres plus participate in a 1:8 on call rota (split into 12 hour day and night shifts) which includes emergency CEPOD surgery.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate would be expected to be able to lead initial clinical reviews of emergency and admitted patients, assist with general surgical and complex colorectal procedures in theatre and, subject to supervised practice, undertake some limited independent surgery.
There will also be opportunities to run clinics under the supervision of the consultant body and potentially independently.

Person Specification
Education and Training
* GMC Registration and license to practice
* Postgraduate training in General Surgery - FRCS/MRCS or equivalent
Experience and Knowledge
* Minimum four years clinical experience in General Surgery
* Demonstrable independent surgical skills
* Specialist experience within surgery
* One year minimum experience within the NHS
* Evidence of good oral and written communication skills
* Experience of multidisciplinary working
