Are you an experienced and motivated Bid Writer with a passion for securing funding and supporting business development? North East Scotland College (NESCol) is seeking a skilled Commercial Bid Writer to join our dynamic team and help drive our ambitions for continued growth and excellence in the further and higher education sector.
Role Overview:
As a Commercial Bid Writer, you will play a key role in identifying funding opportunities for both B2B and B2C training, as well as related income generation initiatives. Your ability to research, draft, and submit high-quality funding applications will be crucial in securing funding for NESCol’s projects. You will also be responsible for developing award-winning submissions that contribute to NESCol’s standing as a leading provider of educational and commercial training in the north-east of Scotland.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research and Identification of Funding Opportunities: Proactively research and identify funding streams, grants, and business development opportunities that align with NESCol’s objectives in both B2B and B2C training and related commercial activities.
2. Bid and Proposal Preparation: Prepare comprehensive, clear, and compelling bids and funding proposals to secure financial support for NESCol’s training programs and commercial projects.
3. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with internal departments, including senior leadership, subject matter experts, and administrative teams, to gather the necessary information and insights to inform and enhance bid submissions.
4. Development of Award Submissions: Create high-quality award submissions that demonstrate NESCol’s expertise and strengthen its reputation as a leading provider of further and higher education and commercial training.
5. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all bid documentation is of the highest quality, meeting the requirements of the funding body and showcasing NESCol’s strengths and unique selling points.
6. Market Research: Stay up to date with trends in the education and commercial training sectors to identify new opportunities for income generation and project development.

The Individual
QUALIFICATIONS
7. HND (SCQF Level 8) in or Business or equivalent relevant qualification. Relevant industry experience may be considered.
8. Evidence of continuing professional development.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
9. Proven experience in bid writing, proposal preparation, or a similar role, ideally within the education or commercial sectors.
10. Exceptional written communication skills, with an ability to craft clear, persuasive, and well-structured bids and submissions.
11. Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and evaluate funding opportunities.
12. Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and assimilate large volumes of information into comprehensive proposals.
13. Experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
14. Understanding of Social. Economic and Environmental values.
15. Experience of Financial/budgetary understanding ideally in a training environment.
16. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
17. Understanding of Scottish Education Framework and key related government policies.
18. Experience of using MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
19. Experience of working effectively without close supervision.
