What we’re looking for…
The Senior Project Engineer will be required to lead the project team by applying a teamwork approach whilst taking the lead in technical matters. The Senior Project Engineer will have a dotted-line responsibility for the day engineer.
Authority to proceed with installation costs of up to £1000 provided this is within the specified budget for the project as a whole. For authorised capital contracts up to £20,000 the Job holder has the authority to choose preferred contractors.
Your responsibilities will include...
As Senior Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring that the site plant, buildings and process operations meet the current and future needs of the business and that their technical effectiveness and reliability is continually improved.
* Supporting the Project Engineering Manager in the generation of a 5-year capital plan and leading the capital projects from conception through to completion.
* Leading the Continuous Improvement and Efficiency-based process projects through the site.
* Ensuring that environmental aspects across the site are monitored and controlled in line with the business objectives and environmental legislation whilst continually reducing energy consumption and carbon emission outputs.
* Preparing capital proposals from initial brief, ensuring they are purchased, installed and commissioned within the agreed capital authorisation and success criteria using the latest technology and planning techniques.
* Leading Project Teams on authorised major capital expenditure projects and ensuring that they are successfully completed within the constraints imposed by the board.
* Carrying out feasibility studies or proposed projects including budget costing and effectively communicating the results.
* Providing advice to operations staff on any technical problems relating to existing processing/packaging plant.
* Studying, analysing, monitoring and reporting on environmental legislation and regulations that may have an impact on the site, recommending courses of action, and retaining the Pollution Prevention & Control (PPC) permits within the legislative timetable.
* Assisting the factory to maintain an externally certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
What you’ll bring...
The successful candidate will have:
* Educated to degree level with at least 5 years experience within a FMCG environment.
* Creative, innovative, well-motivated self-starter with an analytical approach to problem solving.
* Ability to successfully complete work is essential; must be practical with a hands-on approach.
* Skill to undertake effective training of engineers.
* Knowledge of quality systems ISO9001, ISO14001, BS25999 and BRC.
* Advanced computing ability for planning, budget control and latest AutoCAD PC programs.
* Ability to manage outside contractors and internal project team members on a day-to-day basis.
* Control and use of consultants for work outside the Job Holder's specialist knowledge.
* Ability to manage the commercial aspects relating to projects to ensure budgetary constraints are adhered to.
