Wednesdays, 6PM – 9:30PM, Term-time only (39 weeks).
Plus time provided per week for planning, staff meetings, training.
£13.20 per hour
4.75 hours per week
Based in Cowley, Oxford.
This youth group is a rewarding and exciting place to work – in fact it hardly feels like work!
The youth group members are young adults aged 18-25 who are autistic without a learning disability. Typically, they attend mainstream college or employment, are independent, engaging, creative, and supportive of each other. The youth group is their space to socialise, enjoy peer support, learn and improve social skills, and co-run the activities. It’s a small nurturing group with 25 members.
We are looking for someone to lead this well-established youth group. You will line manage a Youth Support Worker and volunteers. You will support the group to be user-led and make decisions and plan and deliver activities themselves.
Job location (usual place of work): Cowley, Oxford.
Pay Rate: £13.20 per hour. 4.75 hours per week term-time

You will lead our well-established youth group for 18-25 year olds. You and your team of staff and volunteers will facilitate “the social stuff” by supporting the young people to organise activities and trips; support participation and facilitate development of social and independence skills.
You will lead the youth group with assistance from staff and volunteers and will line manage one Youth Support Worker and a group of dedicated volunteers.
MAIN DUTIES
YOUTH WORK: SUPPORT YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE AUTISTIC WITHOUT A LEARNING DISABILITY IN A GROUP SETTING
• Provide a social, nurturing, fun, and safe youth group, together with a Youth Support Worker and team of volunteers.
• Plan and run sessions using initiative and responsibility.
• Support young people to socialise and build friendships within the group.
• Encourage and support young people to plan and run activities themselves and foster independence and social skills.
We are looking for someone who is experienced in running group work with autistic young people, is organised, a good team leader, nurturing, able to guide adults with adult matters, can model and encourage social skills and has good professional judgement.
