Main duties of the job
The job role is to support the education and development of learners in the clinical practice setting. It involves working with broad groups of learners with diverse needs, including unregistered staff, registered nurses, students, apprentices and learners on other pathways and teams, to maintain high standards of clinical practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To assist with developing and delivering education initiatives for Nurses, Midwives AHPs and Clinical Support Workers within the organisation.
2. To work clinically alongside new and existing Nurses to promote best practice.
3. To oversee compliance with the professional bodies' standards with respect to the support of learners in practice.
4. To support and provide a positive clinical learning environment.
5. To assist in the pastoral support of nurses, midwives and AHPs.
6. To support in maintaining a competent workforce.
7. To provide advice and support to managers and preceptors on the development of newly registered nurses, midwives and AHPs.
8. To facilitate and provide professional support for clinical placements in a specific number of clinical areas.
9. To provide advice and support to Practice Supervisors and Practice on the development of student nurse associates and student nurses.
10. Assist in the delivery of training for Practice Supervisors and Practice Assessors.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* First level registered nurse with current NMC registration
* Degree level qualification in health related subject
* Practice Assessor (or equivalent) / teaching qualification
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Knowledge around supporting and developing learners in practice
* Awareness of current issues in Clinical Education and Practice Development
Experience
Essential criteria
* Considerable general nursing experience
* Effective leadership and management skills
* Experience assessing and supervising learners in practice.
* Commitment to the development of learners
Skills
Essential criteria
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Ability to project a professional manner and approach
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* I.T. Literate
* Effective teaching, assessing and supervision skills
