Occupational Therapist – Full-Time, Permanent (term time only)September Start – Dorking, SurreySalary: £30,000 - £45,000 per annum
For many children, the school day is full of hidden challenges—holding a pencil, staying focused, managing emotions, or simply feeling comfortable in a busy environment. As an Occupational Therapist, you understand that these everyday tasks aren’t small hurdles; they can shape a child’s entire learning experience.
In this role, you’ll be working in a specialist school for students with Autism and SEMH, helping them develop the skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond.
A School Designed for Success
This school was built with its students’ needs at the heart of everything. From the moment you step inside, it’s clear that every detail has been carefully considered to create an environment where both staff and students can succeed.
You’ll have access to:
* Brand-new therapy spaces with high-quality sensory and motor skill resources
* Small class sizes, allowing you to provide individualised support
* A collaborative team, including teachers, speech and language therapists, and pastoral staff
* Specialist facilities, including a multi-sports hall, theatre space, and outdoor learning areas
* A leadership team that values therapists, ensuring you have everything you need to make a difference
Your Role as an Occupational Therapist
Here, your work will go far beyond traditional therapy sessions. You’ll be embedded into the school day, working closely with students, teachers, and families to create practical, meaningful interventions that help children become more independent and confident.
Your impact might include:
* Supporting students with sensory processing challenges, helping them feel more comfortable in the classroom
* Developing fine and gross motor skills so students can participate more easily in learning and play
* Helping children build self-regulation strategies, improving focus and emotional wellbeing
* Advising teachers on practical adaptations, making learning more accessible for all
The work you do won’t just help students in school—it will set them up with the skills they need for life.
A Team That Supports You
Many therapists feel isolated in their roles, but not here. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team where collaboration is key. Teachers, support staff, and therapists work together, ensuring everyone has the tools to make a real impact.
If you’re new to working in an education setting, you’ll be fully supported with SEND training and ongoing professional development, helping you transition seamlessly into a school environment.
