Role Overview
Reporting to the Design Director, the Junior Graphic Designer will be responsible for driving the creative output of Digital Frontier across multiple mediums, including editorial design, website and print illustration, event design, online advertising (banners, MPUs), native content, and marketing design. As a key member of our Design Team, your innovative and versatile design approach will ensure that our visual communications are impactful, cohesive, and aligned with our brand vision.
This is a highly collaborative role in which you’ll work closely with teams across Editorial, Marketing and Events to deliver compelling work that supports our ambitious goals and resonates with our audience.
Key Responsibilities
* Illustration creation: Design and develop illustrations for both online and print formats, ensuring they align with project objectives and brand guidelines.
* Marketing and event collateral: Produce engaging visual assets to support marketing campaigns and events, including flyers, posters, banners, and digital content.
* Editorial design: Contribute to editorial projects by crafting visually compelling layouts that enhance storytelling and readability.
* GIF animation: Create eye-catching GIF animations for digital use, adding dynamic elements to enhance audience engagement.
* AI-driven design: Utilise AI tools such as MidJourney to explore creative concepts, generate design elements, streamline workflows, integrating AI outputs seamlessly into design projects.
* Brand consistency: Ensure all creative assets adhere to our brand guidelines, maintaining a cohesive and professional visual identity across all platforms.
* Asset preparation: Prepare and package design files for production, including formatting for print and optimising for digital use.
* Research and inspiration gathering: Stay informed on current design trends, including advancements in AI-driven tools, and gather inspiration to bring fresh ideas to projects and campaigns.
* Feedback incorporation: Respond to feedback from the Design Director and other stakeholders, revising designs to meet project requirements and expectations.
* Asset archiving: Maintain an organised file system for all design projects, ensuring assets are easily accessible and appropriately archived.
* Support across departments: Assist the wider business by providing adhoc design support for presentations and other internal materials as required.
Requirements
* You have a bachelor's degree in graphic design, fine arts, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
* You are proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, with additional skills in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro and Figma being highly advantageous.
* Previous experience with AI design tools is highly desirable.
* You can generate GIF animations and have the ability to create more complex animations.
* You think creatively and generate innovative design ideas that stand out.
* You have a strong understanding of typography principles and the ability to apply them effectively.
* You are skilled in layout and composition, ensuring your designs are visually engaging and balanced.
* You demonstrate active engagement in collaborative brainstorming by contributing effective ideas during team discussions.
* You understand the principles of print design, with a basic knowledge of repro processes.
* You are adept at digital illustration and capable of generating original artwork.
* You have an expert eye for attention to detail, ensuring designs are polished and error-free.
* You’re adaptable and have a genuine interest in exploring new design trends and techniques.
* Your positive attitude and collaborative mindset make you a pleasure to work with, building strong relationships across multi-functional teams.
* You have the ability to prioritise workload effectively and meet deadlines under the guidance of senior team members.
* You have a high level of literacy with Microsoft tools and project management tools, such as Asana.
* You have a natural interest in digital technology.
