Principal Applications Engineer – Semiconductors
Part of an expanding engineering team and working closely with sales and marketing to drive sales growth by providing the best customer service and technical support. Work for a growing, international manufacturing business that has invested significantly across production. Based in the Bracknell area.
An ambitious engineering business is currently recruiting for a Principal Applications Engineer to join their semiconductor manufacturing team to help provide technical support to their customer base. A strong electrical / semiconductor knowledge is required for this position.
Salary & Package: £60,000 to £65,000 as a guide. Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm with possible scope for flexibility around this. 25 days holiday + banks. 5% Pension.
This Principal Applications Engineer job will suit:
* A master’s degree (or equivalent learning or experience) in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or related field.
* Knowledge of the power electronics industry with a focus on high voltage, high current semiconductor applications.
* Knowledge of the considerations of designing high power IGBT and MOSFET based converters.
* Good knowledge of high power Semiconductors and associated technologies.
* Knowledge of power electronics simulation. Experience of SPICE, PLECs and Matlab desirable.

The Principal Applications Engineer job will involve:
* Provide in-depth and responsive technical support to customers.
* Conduct testing, simulation, analysis and reporting in the European Power Lab to support customers and colleagues.
* Develop close professional relationships with customer engineers and managers to position the business as the primary semiconductor partner for all customers.
* Provide technical support to the sales and marketing team to maximize sales opportunity and drive sales growth.
* Support or author and present papers, articles, presentations and posters in academic and industry journals, conferences and publications.
* Support development of new test, simulation and analysis capabilities in the European power lab to support the development into a global centre of excellence for application support and market-focused research and development.
* Establish close professional relationships with colleagues in research and development, maintain a detailed understanding of current and future products and technology, and support the development of new products.
