Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 6)
Moray H&SCP - Dr Gray's Hospital, Elgin
37 hours per week - Permanent
We are looking to recruit a flexible, dynamic and forward thinking Occupational Therapist to contribute to our friendly inpatient team. Dr Gray’s hospital is a busy district hospital and experience of managing an acute clinical caseload is essential for this role, as you will be covering a variety of clinical areas including general medical, surgical, medicine for the elderly, stroke and orthopaedics. You should have a strong interest in working with patients to deliver effective evidenced based care to optimise their occupational performance and to promote safe and timely discharge from hospital. You will have excellent communication skills as well as strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
The successful candidate will be pivotal in ensuring effective delivery of the service across our hospital with an emphasis on helping to support and develop junior and support staff within the team. The Moray Occupational Therapy Team is a well-established team with robust supervision, mentoring, quality review and audit frameworks and we strive to provide an excellent service to our patients. We also have close working relationships with our AHP and multidisciplinary colleagues in Moray and across NHS Grampian as well as national links.
We are supportive of a good work/life balance. NHS Scotland has reduced their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 and from 1 April 2026 this will reduce again to a 36 hours but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.

Key Worker Housing Support
Moray Council are offering temporary accommodation for key workers moving to Moray to support recruitment in the public sector, including NHS roles. This opportunity is designed to help individuals who are unable to secure housing locally while starting their new job.
Applicants must be filling a public sector role such as NHS healthcare professionals eg Consultants, Nurses, Physiotherapists where local skills shortages exist.
You must be moving to Moray from outside the area and must be willing to accept a Short Scottish Secure Tenancy (SSST), which is a temporary housing arrangement.
Key worker points will be awarded based on employer confirmation of recruitment need, and housing will be provided for a minimum of six months, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. This accommodation option allows applicants time to secure permanent housing while addressing local recruitment challenges.
