As part of Governance and Legal Services Directorate based in County Hall, the Democratic Services Team supports the Elected, Independent and Co-opted members of the Council and contributes to the Council’s governance and decision-making processes.
The service now operates a hybrid working model which enables employees to work flexibly from home or from an office base, depending upon service requirements.
About the job
Cardiff Council is looking for a talented individual to join its highly regarded Committee and Member Services team. This team is principally involved in servicing the Council’s Scrutiny, Regulatory and other Committees and supporting committee members.
We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, has experience in local government administration and who is keen to join our team and work with Elected Members. The post would benefit from having a Level 4 (Advanced) from ALTE Welsh Language Framework, but this is not essential.
What We Are Looking For From You
The successful candidate will receive appropriate training and support and will undertake a range of administrative functions, including the servicing of appropriate Committees & Panels, supporting the provision of multi-location meetings, and would benefit from having significant IT skills and experience with the ability to quickly adapt to new software and equipment.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate a high standard of communication skills, both written and oral; good interpersonal skills and diplomacy along with an awareness of the political context of the Council and an understanding of the business and the individuals to be supported. The ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines, often under pressure, maintain good customer care, and work as part of a team are essential.
