Role: Youth Mentor (Supporting SEND/SEMH Needs)
Location: Shrewsbury
Salary: £84 - £95 per day
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Youth Mentor to join our team in Shrewsbury, with a focus on supporting young individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is designed for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people facing challenges in their personal and academic development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Mentor and guide young people with SEND/SEMH needs, focusing on personal, social, and academic growth.
2. Provide tailored support to help individuals overcome barriers to learning and development.
3. Encourage positive decision-making, goal setting, and self-empowerment.
4. Foster a supportive, inclusive, and safe environment that promotes well-being and confidence.
5. Work closely with colleagues, families, and external professionals to create and implement individualised support plans.
6. Deliver targeted programs designed to enhance social and emotional skills and manage behaviour.
Key Requirements:
1. Passionate about supporting young individuals with SEND/SEMH needs.
2. Strong communication, active listening, and mentoring skills.
3. Ability to build trust and rapport with young people who may have experienced challenges in their lives.
4. Experience working with SEND or SEMH students, either in a mentoring or youth work setting, is highly desirable.
5. Empathy, patience, and resilience in challenging situations.
6. Ability to motivate and inspire young people to reach their full potential.
