We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Fitter - Plant to join our friendly team based at Tarmac Arcow Quarry, Settle, North Yorkshire. This role forms part of the engineering function at Arcow Quarry and is easily accessible from Settle, Kirkby Lonsdale, Carnforth, Wray, Kettlewell, Hawes, Morecombe, Kendal, Skipton, Grassington, Burnley, Keighley, Otley and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
Reporting to the Section Manager, the role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter - Plant will be responsible for responding to plant breakdowns, taking a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities whilst ensuring assets are returned to production in a timely manner, and temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solution.
The Mechanical Maintenance Fitter - Plant will also
1. Coordinate with contractors and suppliers when they are on site
2. Participate in root cause analysis so repeat failures can be eliminated
3. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function
4. Perform Welding and Fabricating tasks
5. Work with risk assessments and method statements
6. Contribute to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair procedures
7. Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and follow all company processes, procedures and regulations
8. Challenge unsafe conditions and practices, reporting these through company procedures
9. Utilise computerised maintenance management system, recording all work including fault descriptions, spares used, and repairs carried out
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter - Plant will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work with minimal supervision. You should also demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar environment. Suitable candidates for the role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter - Plant will:
10. Have a strong, practical mechanical systems background, heavy industry preferred - conveyors, drive systems – motors, belts, pumps, gearboxes, crushers, vibratory screens
11. Possess a fault-finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate action
12. Possess the ability to remove and fit bearings as well as perform welding and fabrication tasks
13. Be confident to undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient manner on all production equipment
14. Competent in the use of application-based inspection schemes
15. Ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordingly
16. Knowledge of site-specific SHE procedures and Safe Working Practices
17. Recognised apprenticeship advantageous
18. ONC/HNC advantageous
