Realise your potential As part of our Quality Regulation and Enforcement Team, the Trade Effluent Specialist will play a pivotal role in regulating trade effluent (TE) across our service area. You’ll be responsible for driving TE initiatives, supporting our Alliances, Wholesale Service Centre, and Water & Water Recycling Teams, and offering expert regulatory guidance and technical support. In this leadership role, you’ll help shape and implement policies and standards in line with UK law, working closely with regulatory bodies such as Ofwat and the Environment Agency. You’ll collaborate with the wider Anglian Water environmental team to ensure compliance with the Water Industry Act, Urban Wastewater Treatment Regulations, and Environmental Permitting Regulation. By supporting the Head of Quality Regulation and Enforcement, you’ll also contribute to the ongoing improvement of trade effluent regulation, build trusted relationships with regulators, and lead on setting Anglian Water’s strategy for non-household customers. What you’ll be doing: - Represent the business in external stakeholder meetings, drive future plans and discuss technical matters regarding TE. - Support and collaborate with Alliances, Laboratory, Wholesale Service Centre, Water and Water Recycling Services by ensuring fair and consistent consenting of TE discharges to ensure ongoing compliance and minimal impact on these teams with maximum benefit to the environment, our people and processes - Maintain and improve the Quality Management System for TE - Communicate and reward the successes of the TE Regulatory Scientists and TE Samplers, and disseminate invaluable insights to enrich the wider business. - Offer strategic guidance to the EA, Laboratory, Wholesale Service Centre, Water and Water Recycling Services and Asset Delivery Planning regarding the environmental regulatory landscape. - Communicate effectively Anglian Water's regulatory-driven standards and policies throughout the organisation, ensuring clarity and alignment. - Lead environmental TE projects, overseeing timelines and deliverables to ensure successful delivery. - Accountable for regulatory data management, assurance and reporting logic to provide regulator and operational trust in TE Regulation - Ensure the implications of legislative or regulatory policy changes are communicated and implemented throughout TE function. - Support with training and technical expertise support for TE Scientists and TE Samplers. - Offer expert guidance to the business, contractors, and partners, advocating for and implementing best environmental practices.
