An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager to join the Wales Maternity & Neonatal Strategic Network, which is part of the NHS Wales Executive, hosted by Public Health Wales. Working on behalf of the Welsh Government, the Executive's role is to provide strong leadership and strategic direction and enable and support the delivery of national priorities and standards.
As part of the NHS Wales Executive, the Network drives improvements in the quality and safety of perinatal care and support across Wales to deliver better and more equitable outcomes, access, and experience, reduced unwarranted variation, and improve population health.
The role of Senior Project Manager will involve:
1. Supporting the Programme Manager and Network manager with the design and delivery of the work plans.
2. Working closely with the Programme Manager; Network Manager; Clinical Leads, partners and wider Network team to develop systems of work that facilitate quality improvement and assurance.
3. Monitoring and reporting against identified key performance indicators, using a variety of data sources.
4. Responsibility for the overall progress of specified projects and use of resources, initiating corrective action where appropriate.
5. Leading in stakeholder engagement, and communication strategy.

Main duties of the job
The following duties will be discharged working closely with the Maternity & Neonatal Network Manager; programme manager and project stakeholders:
1. To identify and understand the needs of stakeholders, including the national networks, programmes and agencies, and provide sound judgement and diplomatic skills.
2. To establish effective reporting and review mechanisms to ensure projects deliver tangible improvements in maternity and neonatal services for the population of Wales.
3. To be responsible for the overall progress of the project and use of resources, initiating corrective action where appropriate.
4. To ensure key stakeholders are informed of progress through the preparation of programme reports.
5. To manage the project risks and develop contingency plans as and when necessary.
6. To manage and administrate support staff aligned to the programme.
7. To provide verbal and written reports as requested by NHS Executive, Maternity & Neonatal Network, Welsh Government, Maternity & Neonatal Network Leadership and Clinical Reference Groups and other programmes.
Secondment for 2 years due to funding.

Job responsibilities
This role provides an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, results-focused individual to shape and deliver exciting projects of work to support health boards/trust to improve the delivery of maternity and neonatal services across Wales.
The post holder will support the Network Manager with the design and delivery of the work plans. They will monitor and report against identified key performance indicators, using a variety of data sources. They will lead in stakeholder engagement, and communication strategy, building effective relationships with clinical and managerial colleagues both internal and external to the Network.
The post holder will work closely with the Network Manager, Clinical Leads, partners and wider Network team to develop systems of work that facilitate quality improvement and assurance in line with the performance and planning framework and ministerial priorities.
The post holder will support the Network Manager in the production of an Annual Report / statements of progress, identifying quality improvements and performance against Network priorities and providing project management for specific areas of the work programme.
The post holder will develop relationships with clinicians, Health Boards, Commissioners and other stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of strategic change in line with standards and policy specific to the Network.

* NVQ Level 4, Degree or equivalent level of experience.
* Prince 2 practitioner or equivalent, or demonstrable practical experience.
